John "Kato" Alaniz is one of the most well-regarded guitar players ever to spring forth from the Corpus Christi music scene. He began his recording career with the long-running hardcore/punk outfit, The Krayons in 1987 -- a post he held until 1994. In Corpus Christi, he also played with the Hershey Squirts, Big Mouth and Machines and Animals.
In Austin, he played with Laughing Stock (two stints) and helped form Manchurian Candidates. More recently, he has played with Sluggard and is currently in Curse the Heavens.
